Effective August 15, 2026. Silk Scroll is designed to work without collecting, transmitting, or selling personal data.
Provider
Silk Scroll is developed and operated by Mert Burge, an independent developer in Sweden. Provider and privacy questions can be sent through the contact page.
Data collection
Silk Scroll does not collect personal information, diagnostics, analytics, advertising identifiers, mouse activity, keyboard activity, usage history, or device identifiers. The app contains no analytics or advertising SDKs.
Local processing
Mouse-wheel events are processed temporarily in memory to calculate smoother scrolling. They are not recorded, written to disk, associated with an identity, or transmitted off your Mac.
Preferences
Your enabled state, smoothness, distance, and direction choices are stored in the app’s private macOS container using UserDefaults. These preferences remain on your Mac and can be removed by deleting the app’s container.
Permissions
Input Monitoring allows Silk Scroll to receive wheel events. Accessibility allows the app to post replacement scroll events. These permissions are used only for the app’s visible scrolling function and can be revoked at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Network access
The Mac App Store build does not request the App Sandbox network client entitlement and makes no network requests. Visiting this website is separate from using the app and is handled by your browser and the website host.
Children and third parties
Silk Scroll does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, and does not share data with third parties because it collects no data.
